A propos

Departure: The Board Cross. Go up the wide path that continues to the paved road.
0:25: The Déchappieu. Continue straight uphill, leaving the path on your right hand between two farms.
0:45: The Vanay. Leave both wide paths on the right and left to go straight on the ridge ("Crêtet of alders"). The slope is steep and joins the arrival of a lift. Another small hill before the first stop.
1:45: Alpage marmots. Continue straight uphill. You will then have two options to reach the the chairlift of l’Epaule du Joly. Either straight on a small trail along the ridge (steep) or by a gentler path going slightly left to make S and then back to the edge.
2:10: Chairlift. Junction with Route No. 33. Straight on the ridge behind the chairlift.
3h: Chairlift. Continue straight on the ridge to the summit.
3:35: Summit of Mont Joly. Congratulations. What a view! The return is by the same route.

Bon à savoir

Tips

From Vanay, a route to climb is from the left flat roads to slightly move toward the pasture Porcherey. Then turn right onto the ridge. The climb is a little longer in distance but less steep. You can do the same on the descent from the mountain pastures of Marmots.
