Spring hiking a breath of fresh air in the heart of the mountains

As the trails gradually open up and the snow melts to make way for the green pastures of Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc, hiking is the ideal way to clear your head in the mountains and enjoy breathtaking scenery! In spring, crocuses are the first flowers to appear after the snow has melted, heralding the return of fine weather. This show is a must for lovers of hiking and wide-open spaces. Whatever your level of ability, there are a number of signposted walks that will enable you to make the most of spring, such as the hameau de miage from La Gruvaz or Le Champel, the chalets du Truc, or Porcherey from Saint-Nicolas de Vaucluse. For families and those looking for a gentle stroll, a trip around Lac du Vivier offers a beautiful view of the Dômes de Miage. Please note that not all hiking itineraries are accessible at this time of year, and it’s advisable to check with the Tourist Office before embarking on a hike if you don’t know where the path is.

Ski touring and snowshoeing perfect for enjoying the snow on the summits

Warm in the valley, but still wintry or even icy on the summits… Spring is the season to enjoy the snow in the morning, and the barbecue at lunchtime! Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc’s territory ranges from 580 meters (at Le Fayet) to 4,808 meters (atthe summit of Mont-Blanc), and naturally offers a vast playground of varied landscapes and biotopes. That’s why ski touring is still possible on the heights during the months of March, April and May! There are plenty of opportunities for adventurers in search of fresh snow and snowy combes. For those who still prefer snowshoeing to gliding, it is also possible to find itineraries, necessarily more huat in altitude, in the mountains of Saint-Gervais and Val Montjoie: contact the Compagnie des Guides de Saint-Gervais / les Contamines for the best information or to find a guide.
