  • After a departure on a pleasant path, the slope straightens out.

    Through the Cross of Christ, you first reach the meadow of marmots and then the Epaule du Joly.

    Then, last climb, in two parts to catch his breath, before the summit and its exceptional panorama.
  • Tips
    From Vanay, a route to climb is from the left flat roads to slightly move toward the pasture Porcherey. Then turn right onto the ridge. The climb is a little longer in distance but less steep. You can do the same on the descent from the mountain pastures of Marmots.
  • Guidebook with maps/step-by-step
    1/ From the Plateau de la Croix, take the wide road that continues along the paved road.
    2/ When you arrive at the Déchapieu, continue straight uphill, then at the place called Chattrix, take the path starting on the right between two farms. Then follow the road of Hermance to the Cross of Christ.
    3/ At the arrival station of the Chairlift of the Cross of Christ, take the path rising to the right on the Route des Crêtes. Continue straight ahead until you reach the finish of the Chairlift of the Epaule du Joly. The path to take part straight on the ridge, follow it until the summit of Mont Joly.
    4/ From the top of Mont Joly, the way back to your starting point is on the same route as on the way out.
