Come and try some bouldering at Topo Mont-Blanc! Open every day, all year round, the Fayet climbing centre has one and a half floors dedicated to bouldering, with new routes added every week!
Here, you don’t need a rope or a belay system – just your climbing shoes!
The Topo offers a range of bouldering areas so you can mix up your climbing styles! Head to the first floor to discover traverses and slab boulders. The second floor is entirely dedicated to bouldering, where you’ll find overhangs, the ‘Champigon’, slabs and the Spray Wall!
As for new routes, we know you love it when things change! So you can count on us: the Topo’s route-setters open a new sector every week. The sector is taken down on Sunday evening and opened on Monday. In short: every Monday after work (or classes), you’ll find a new bouldering sector at the Topo. If you’re on holiday here, you can be sure the sectors will have changed by the time of your next visit.
The Spray Wall, or ‘Pan’, is an overhanging panel with holds bolted onto it in a more or less random (and aesthetically pleasing!) pattern.
Choosing to climb on a Spray Wall means putting creativity back at the heart of your climbing experience whilst savouring the joys of route-setting. All you have to do is choose: create your own routes, make the most of the situation’s unlimited potential and reap all the benefits.
What is bouldering?
Bouldering is climbing without a rope or belay system. Today, bouldering has become a climbing discipline in its own right. This (Olympic!) discipline is practised as a fun alternative to the gym by regular climbers, experienced climbers and top-level competitors alike.
At Le Topo, you’ll climb boulders up to 4.50 m high and land safely on high-impact mats.
How do you get started?
Bouldering is suitable for everyone aged 4 and over, right through to later in life! This discipline is practised without the usual climbing belay equipment. No ropes, no carabiners, no harnesses. All you need is a pair of climbing shoes.
This style of climbing focuses on explosiveness – that is, the power and agility climbers need to navigate the boulders. Climbers aim to tackle ‘problems’ or ‘routes’ that become increasingly difficult as their skill level improves. The guidebook features everything from simple boulders for beginners to highly complex ones for experienced climbers! Bouldering can be enjoyed alone or in a group.
