From lakes and ponds to thousand-year-old thermal baths and aquatic centers with swimming pools, there’s something for everyone. We’ve put together a list of the best places to swim. Get your bathing suit ready, the best swimming spots are just waiting for you!

 

Swimming pools in Saint-Gervais in summer

Whether you prefer the municipal swimming pool or your hotel pool, Saint-Gervais has no shortage of places to cool off.

Accessible all year round, the centre aquatique de Saint-Gervais expands its offer in summer for your greatest pleasure.

Come and swim laps in the swimming pool or play in the 43 m² family-friendly play pool. If you’re bringing small children, take advantage of the paddling pool! In summer, take a dip in the outdoor pool equipped with a slide for even more thrills, and enjoy our snack bar to replenish your strength while admiring the mountain foothills.

Wellness lovers will also find something to suit them thanks to our area dedicated to relaxation: sauna, hammam, solarium… Last but not least, sports enthusiasts will appreciate the many activities offered by the pool: aquabike, aqua cardio sculpt, trampolines…

Hotels with swimming pool in Saint-Gervais

Many hotels are equipped with a heated indoor and outdoor swimming pool. Often accompanied by a wellness area with jacuzzi, spa, sauna, hammam, they delight their guests.

In fact, you can swim under the eye of the Massif du Mont-Blanc, enjoy the surrounding beauty, bask in listening to the animals graze in front of the Dôme de Miage or simply enjoy the sweetness of living in the mountains in the middle of summer.

If the mood takes you, sign up for a yoga or pilates class to round off your day well at nearly 1,000 m altitude. Some hotels also offer treatments and other relaxing massages.

Swimming at Lac Passy

From Saint-Gervais, head northwest. Less than ten kilometers from the resort is the largest lake in the Mont-Blanc region: Lac Passy. Now fully developed, it has been delighting locals and tourists alike for many years. Spend an afternoon:

  • Go for a swim in the lake.
  • Rest on its supervised beach.
  • Sail the lake’s surface on a paddle, windsurf or electric boat.

But also:

  • Tackle the fish on an atypical fishing session.
  • Enjoy its grassy creeks.
  • Enjoy a round of golf with your children on the lake’s mini golf course.
  • Go on an adventure on one of the orienteering courses.
  • Challenge yourself on the go-kart tracks.

Bathing in pure water The Combloux biotope lake

Less than ten kilometers west of Saint-Gervais, discover the plan d’eau biotope de Combloux. This is the first ecological lake open to bathing in France. Its crystal-clear waters warmed by the mountain sun are an invitation to swim.

More than 10,000 aquatic plants and a small cascading stream ensure you’ll bathe in waters of remarkable quality. The 1,500 m2 water area is a huge playground for families with children, groups of friends, sports enthusiasts, nature lovers…

Please remember to bring your swimming trunks or boxer shorts. Only 500 privileged people can enjoy the water every day to preserve the quality of the water and the plants that naturally cleanse the area.

Swimming at Lac de Sallanches

Lac de Sallanches is located a few kilometers further north of Lac de Passy. Departing from Saint-Gervais, it will take you less than 30 minutes by car to get there.

So come and enjoy an active relaxing day by the lake:

  • Slip into your swimsuit and bathe in its clear waters.
  • Gently glide over the lake waters with your windsurfer.
  • Rest in the shade of the trees and on the fresh grass lawns lining the lake.
  • Watch the birds and other fish enjoying the nourishing benefits of the lake in peace. Fishing is prohibited in summer, but permitted the rest of the year.
  • Lunch on one of the picnic tables set up by the water.
  • Get your barbecue out, but be careful to control your fire.
  • Sit out on the terrace of the small restaurant and refreshment bar open all summer.
  • Use without moderation the leisure facilities provided by the commune (volleyball courts, fitness trail, petanque courts, table tennis…).

The Lac de Sallanches is a call “to swimming and lazing about”. its beach and waters are supervised during the summer (July and August). Its exceptional length (over 450 m) means you can enjoy the place without being jostled by other visitors.
