Julien Grangier holds a PhD in ecology and works as an independent entomologist. A specialist in ants, he has devoted several research projects to them and is currently studying them as part of biodiversity conservation projects.
Some insects form complex societies. From these crowds of cooperating individuals emerge highly effective forms of collective intelligence. But the group is not everything: recent discoveries show that these insects can also display individual intelligence that was previously unsuspected. The individual itself is capable of memorizing, orienting itself, rescuing its fellow creatures, using tools... Or how tiny brains can do great things.
