This exhibition, also on display from February to April 2026 at the Shiga Kogen Museum (in Yamanouchi, Japan), is aimed at those who appreciate Japanese aesthetics and wish to deepen their understanding of it.
Artist Giandra de Castro photographed the waters of Yamanouchi, a twin town, to give shape to nearly thirty typically Japanese aesthetic concepts.
These concepts articulate the formalism, sensibilities and principles of the Japanese artistic tradition, such as ikebana, calligraphy, the tea ceremony and Noh theatre. The images, with their pictorial rendering, are faithful to the reality of the waters, without retouching.
