Discover the Cheminées des Fées on a guided hike starting from Saint-Gervais-les-Bains, combining nature and geology, suitable for ages 8 and up.
Starting from the Saint-Gervais-les-Bains tourist office, this 3-hour hike will take you along the trails leading to the mysterious Cheminées des Fées (Fairy Chimneys) of Saint-Gervais. Led by a mid-mountain guide from the Compagnie des Guides, this outing invites you to observe and understand the landscapes around us.
As you walk, you’ll discover how glaciers, erosion, and topography have shaped this remarkable natural site. Suitable for ages 8 and up, this friendly small-group activity (maximum 10 participants) is ideal for combining exploration, learning, and the joy of walking.
Equipment to bring:
• high-top hiking boots that provide good ankle support (soft après-ski boots or low-top shoes are not suitable—rental available in the villages);
• a drink and a snack;
• sunglasses and sunscreen;
• a hat, scarf, or balaclava;
• warm and/or appropriate clothing;
• a backpack suitable for a half-day hike, large enough to carry your belongings and store a jacket during the ascent.
For safety reasons, children in backpacks and dogs are not permitted on the hike.
