Created in 1961 by Jacques MARCHAND, editor-in-chief of L'Equipe, the Tour de l'Avenir is the world's benchmark race for young hopefuls (aged 19-22), with a women's version launched in 2023. The aim of this international stage race is to train young athletes and expose them to the harsh realities of this demanding sport.
Challenging, selective and fiercely contested, the Tour de l'Avenir rewards each year talented competitors destined to become great champions. Felice GIMONDI, Joop ZOETEMELK, Greg LEMOND, Miguel INDURAIN, Laurent FIGNON, Egan BERNAL and more recently Tadej POGACAR have all won the Tour de l'Avenir, the prelude to a rich and prestigious career during which they added their names to the list of Tour de France winners.
