“Bach today” offers a striking contemporary reinterpretation of Bach's works, featuring a versatile quartet: violin, cello, piccolo, harpsichord, organ, recorder...
Bach's works, which have spanned the centuries, possess a timeless dimension that we wanted to re-examine from a contemporary angle. By revisiting this music with instruments, timbres and personal artistic choices, “Bach today” is in no way a fixed homage. On the contrary, the aim is to reveal the polyphony of possibilities that Bach's music contains, to bear witness to its vitality, its power to reinvent itself while resonating with our own times.
We are 4 artists: harpsichord/organ; cello; violin and viola; recorders.
Our program allows us to rediscover J.-S. Bach's works, which he himself sometimes transcribed, but played this time by a chamber music ensemble: sonatas, sinfonias, fantasias, chorales, ....
We draw on his chamber music, cantatas and, above all, his organ works.
The concert features commentary.
Alain Pégeot, violin and viola
Hervé Douchy, cello and piccolo cello
Jacques Willemyns, harpsichord and organ (1/8)
Michel Keustermans, recorders, artistic direction and presentation
