A theater festival in the Alps in the heart of the Hameau de Bionnassay

Come and take part in the new summer cultural event, the “Théâtre dans les alpages” theater festival. This unprecedented festival took place from July 25 to 28, 2023 – see you next year! Come and experience this exceptional event in the mountains of Saint-Gervais. At the foot of the Bionnassay glacier, you’ll be able to admire the start of the royal access route to Mont-Blanc and the Dôme du Gouter.

Le Théâtre que l’on aime is a free, unvarnished theater, where actors serve words, a theater of shared emotions and pleasure.

Olivier de Lisle

To share with you the theater we love.

The performances will take place outdoors in a natural agora. You’ll have the chance to enjoy this experience in the small village of Bionnassay. In the heart of this hamlet, come and enjoy a festive, mountain atmosphere. As night falls, you’ll immerse yourself in the world of theater for an evening.

Under the stars, you’ll discover renowned plays and actors. For this first edition, you’ll find a high-quality, demanding program, yet accessible to all audiences. Great actors and young talents will share this unique moment with you, mixing mythical texts and current creations.

The initial idea of the “Théâtre dans les Alpages” Festival was to share with as wide an audience as possible the Theatre we love, while adding the unique dimension of open-air performance. Performing at twilight, in a small, unspoilt alpine hamlet, nestled in a natural amphitheatre at the foot of the glaciers. It was a promise of simple beauty, of emotions shared between audience and actors.

The theater has gradually cut itself off from the greatest number…

Hence the interest of a Festival, set up for a few days in the middle of the village. People come naturally, without question, because it’s there, quite simply. The actors do the rest, and are moved by the welcome they receive from the audience. This audience gives as much as it receives. What a wonderful gift they give us!
