Access
- Saint-Gervais le Fayet train station, then bus service Stop La Gruvaz (after the village of Saint-Gervais) 10 minutes walk from the start of the trail.
From the parking lot of the Gruvaz - 1150m access to the Chalets de Miage (1559m, guarded refuge) - 1h.
Continue towards the Col de Miage by the pastures, climb a rocky escarpment and the moraine to access the refuge of Plan-glacier (2730m refuge guarded) - 3h.
Join the glacier by crossing along the west slope (cabled passages), cross the Miage glacier and reach the ledge marked with a red dot. Go up the spur towards the Miage pass where the old refuge is located - 3h.
Count in total 7 to 8h. 2200m of denivelé positive.
Access is also possible from the Conscripts refuge -2602m by the Domes de Miage - 3670m in 7h.
