Spring hiking a breath of fresh air in the heart of the mountains

As the trails gradually open up and the snow melts to make way for the green pastures of Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc, hiking is the ideal way to clear your head in the mountains and enjoy breathtaking scenery!

In spring, crocuses are the first flowers to appear after the snow has melted, heralding the return of fine weather. This show is a must for lovers of hiking and wide-open spaces. Whatever your level, there are a number of signposted hikes that will enable you to make the most of spring, such as the hamlet of Miage from La Gruvaz or Le Champel, the chalets du Truc, or Porcherey from Saint-Nicolas de Véroce. For families and those looking for a gentle stroll, a simple trip around Lac du Vivier will give you a beautiful view of the Dômes de Miage.

Please note that not all hiking itineraries are accessible at this time of year, and it’ s advisable to check with the Tourist Office before embarking on a hike if you don’t know where the path is.

Between road bikes and mountain bikes in the saddle to discover Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc

With the air cooler than in summer, but the roads and trails clearer than in winter, spring is a particularly good time for cycling, whether for touring or for a more intense sporting experience.

Numerous mountain bike service providers offer guided group or individual outings to suit all levels and tastes. There are also a number of dedicated, signposted itineraries, so you can explore the mountains at your own pace, enjoying the fresh spring air and the beauty of snow-covered mountain peaks!

With many mountain hamlets accessible by road, and a wealth of cultural attractions such as the chapels of Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc or typical old mountain farms, road biking is an ideal way to visit our beautiful destination. With snow-covered landscapes and accessible roads, set off to discover the mountain roads, or tackle the remarkable ascent of Le Bettex, in the footsteps of a mythical Tour de France stage!

Ski touring and snowshoeing perfect for enjoying the snow on the peaks

Warm in the valley, but still wintry or even icy on the summits… Spring is the season to enjoy the snow in the morning, and the barbecue at lunchtime!

Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc’s territory ranges from 580 meters (at Le Fayet) to 4,808 meters (atthe summit of Mont-Blanc), and naturally offers a vast playground of varied landscapes and biotopes. That’s why ski touring is still possible on the heights during the months of March, April and May! There are plenty of opportunities for adventurers in search of fresh snow and snowy combes.

For those who still prefer snowshoeing to gliding, it is also possible to find itineraries, necessarily more huat in altitude, in the mountains of Saint-Gervais and Val Montjoie: contact the Compagnie des Guides de Saint-Gervais / les Contamines for the best information or to find a guide.
