Natural hazard prevention plan(PPRN)
The Plan de Prévention des Risques naturels (P.P.R.n) is a document, under the responsibility of the State, which regulates land use according to the natural risks to which they are subject. These regulations range from the possibility of building under certain conditions to the prohibition of building.
The P.P.R.n takes into account all the risks identified on a 100-year scale in the Commune, such as avalanches, landslides, torrent overflows…
The scope of the regulations covers new projects, but also existing properties. The P.P.R.n can also define and make mandatory general prevention, protection and safeguard measures.
The revision of the Saint-Gervais P.P.R.n was approved by prefectoral decree on December 28, 2010.

Major risks
The Prefecture of Haute-Savoie has approved the Document Communal Synthétique for the Commune of Saint-Gervais.
This document lists locations exposed to natural and technological risks. Its aim is to inform and raise awareness among citizens of the natural risks incurred, and the safeguards to protect against them. It is supplemented by a Dossier Départemental des Risques Majeurs. Unlike the Plan de Prévention des Risques Naturels (P.P.R.n), they are not enforceable against third parties. They do not create any rights or duties.
Information for buyers and tenants
Since June 1, 2006, buyers or lessees of real estate of any kind must be informed by the seller or lessor, whether a real estate professional or not, of the existence of risks to which the property is exposed.
A statement of risks, based on information transmitted by the Prefect to the Mayor of Saint-Gervais, must be appended to any type of contract (rental agreement, promise to sell…).
