What is Itineras?
This is a program, supported by the European Union and the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund), to enhance the value of heritage based on the definition of Sacred Art itineraries, the creation of tourist supports and the participation of local populations who, strong and proud of their history and traditions, will be able to share them with all those who visit Saint-Gervais and Valgrisenche.
This is a partnership between two territories representative of the importance of sacred art and architecture in the panorama of Alpine culture. Saint-Gervais les Bains, at the foot of Mont Blanc, which presents a dynamic balance between tradition and modernity, and Valgrisenche, the only commune in an entire valley with strong roots in mountain territory.
It’s also a operation to protect the cultural and artistic heritage of the two communes, via the restoration of structures that form part of the identity of mountain communities and their special relationship with the sacred, omnipresent in their daily lives.
