Description
‘Peter and the Wolf’ reimagined as a jazz piece by the Edip Quartet and a storyteller! A swinging and imaginative reinterpretation of Prokofiev’s tale, for young and old alike.
The Espace Mont-Blanc in Saint-Gervais-les-Bains will host a unique reinterpretation of one of the greatest classics in the children’s repertoire: Serge Prokofiev’s *Peter and the Wolf*, reimagined in a distinctly jazz style.
Performed by the Edip Quartet, accompanied by a storyteller, this show weaves together improvisation, jazz harmonies and lively storytelling. Each character in the tale — Peter, the bird, the duck, the cat, the wolf, the grandfather and the hunters — finds their voice through an original orchestration that departs from the traditional symphonic score without ever betraying the spirit of the work: the music continues to tell the story, but with the texture, swing and freedom characteristic of jazz.
This project is the result of a partnership between the Val Montjoie School of Music and the Town of Saint-Gervais, who wished to offer a wide audience — families, children, and lovers of both jazz and classical music — an accessible and surprising musical experience, at the crossroads of heritage and improvisation.
This Saturday evening concert follows on from the school performances held the previous day, which will enable several classes from schools in Saint-Gervais to discover the show in advance.
