Of the 10,000 lakes in the Alps, only 300 reflect the highest peaks. The speaker invites you to discover these ‘Mirrors of the Heights’ on a unique journey across the Alps, following a trail of unforgettable, luminous scenes.

The speaker, Christophe Hagenmuller, has spent several decades exploring the French, Swiss, Italian and Austrian mountain ranges, from the Mercantour to the Hohe Tauern, via Mont Blanc and the Swiss ‘Crown of 4,000s’, in search of the most beautiful high-altitude lakes. He invites you to share in his discoveries – lakes that are sometimes hidden away and off the beaten track – and the natural riches of the regions he has travelled through. The talks are based on the screening of a high-quality slideshow, accompanied by live commentary. Throughout the presentation, the focus is on both: • The harmony of the photographs capturing the most beautiful reflections of the Alpine peaks in the multitude of mirror-like lakes – a composition that serves as an ode to the beauty of the mountains, • Practical advice and guidance on exploring these wonders, as well as the richness and diversity of the natural heritage across the fourteen geographical regions covered, stretching from the Mediterranean to the borders of Austria, • Reflections on how landscapes are changing, particularly as a result of climate change and its impact on glaciers, forests and mountain lakes.
