For Artocène 2025, Zhang Yunyao presents a monumental work in a dedicated space in the high-altitude restaurant Le Prarion. Faced with this panoramic view, the artist will work on the question of ascent and the mystical relationship with the mountain.
Born in 1985, Shanghai. He lives and works in Paris. Through the use of non-traditional supports and pictorial surfaces, Zhang Yunyao explores the temporal nature of painting, as well as the instability and intersections of historical and personal memory.
The 4th edition of Artocène offers an exhibition trail between 580m and 1,800m altitude. This artistic trek takes you on a discovery of singular exhibitions on the theme of the evolution of the body and in relation to the landscape. Twelve international artists have created works in situ in unusual locations: immersive installations, videos, sculptures, etc.
With the artists: Rebecca Allen, Cécile B. Evans, Loucia Carlier, Giulia Cenci, Amandine Guruceaga, Camille Henrot, Oliver Laric, Nefeli Papadimouli, Panos Profitis, Hugo Servanin, Yan Tomaszewski, Zhang Yunyao
and Aurélien Dougé
