Description
"Voyages": paintings inspired by Alpine and Atlantic landscapes, alongside an abstract series on color symbolism paying tribute to classical and jazz musicians.
Musical expression has always been one of my favorite subjects — jazz through its musicians, but also the atmosphere of jazz clubs and cellars. I then became passionate about a pictorial expression based on the same materials, colors, and symbols used by famous composers, each representing a powerful current of thought in their era. The relevance of this approach, now recognized as innovative, has become the foundation of my work on classical and jazz composers. The many landscapes and figures I've encountered during my travels in France and elsewhere are also a way for me to escape onto canvas with oil, acrylic, or watercolor, and through quick sketches in my travel notebooks.
My exhibition "Voyages" is a testimony to my memories of the majestic sites of our Alpine massifs and, more broadly, of our Atlantic coastlines — carrying the desire to convey through painting the emotions felt before our splendid landscapes. I also invite you to journey with me into abstraction, through the symbolism of color, in my work built from the lives and works of classical and jazz musicians.
